Que ne suis-je la fougère ?


This a very poetic French song that dates back to the 18th century. The original music is sometimes attributed to Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. The words are those of a poem by Charles Henri Ribouté entitled "Tendres souhaits", but it is the first verse that makes up the title of the song.
Carulli and Sor composed variations on it for the guitar.
